PROJECT OVERVIEW
York Hill Campus Student Housing
Quinnipiac University, York Hill Campus Campus, Hamden, Connecticut The Crescent and Westview Residence Halls were built with upper class students in mind, featuring new suite and apartment-style student housing. The project was completed in two phases bringing 92 rooms/520 beds online in August of 2009 with an additional 158 rooms/776 beds being added in phase two in 2010. Outdoor recreational amenities include basketball and sand volleyball courts. There are 721 rooftop photovoltaic panels that produce 233,000 kwh of electricity annually. This is enough electricity to power the common areas and site lighting of the building. Eastview Apartments were completed in 2011 exclusively for senior students. The building adds 35 apartment-style units to the new York Hill Campus, housing 204 students. It features more single beds and private bathrooms. The facility boasts several "green" features including a geothermal heat pump system and solar thermal hot water system. The Townhouses at York Hill, also completed in 2011, added 126 beds to the York Hill Campus. The five buildings include 21 apartments, each with three double bedrooms, a full sized kitchen, a large furnished living room and a bathroom. The University's York Hill Campus now houses over 1,626+ upper-class students. The combined Student Housing, Rocky Top Student Center and Parking Garage projects on the newly developed York Hill Campus received the prestigious CREW Connecticut Real Estate Exchange Blue Ribbon Award for "Best Sustainable Design" in 2011.
