Weitz Center for Creativity
Carleton College, Northfield, Minnesota
With the intention of creating a new home for the many creative programs at Carleton College, the former Northfield Middle School just off campus was renovated and a new museum addition added. The former middle school constituted three separate buildings dating from 1910 to 1950.
The new facility houses the Carleton comprehensive program in the arts. It includes drawing studios, a black box theater, 250-seat cinema theater, video production studios, an audio recording suite, the student radio station, dance studios, interactive classrooms, an idea lab and the Perlman Teaching Museum addition. The project achieved a LEED-Gold Certification.
