Plaza Renovation and Infrastructure Minneapolis Community and Technical College, Minneapolis, Minnesota The downtown Minneapolis campus' 30 year old original plaza was replaced with the construction of a 61,120 square foot exterior plaza. The project was completed in two phases. In phase one the below grade structure was insulated and waterproofing was applied. The site was regraded with appropriate watershed requirements, new paved sidewalks were added, asbestos was abated where necessary, and soils were stabilized. In phase two a rain garden was planted and additional landscaping connected the plaza with nearby Loring Park.
The project received the 2014 DID (Minneapolis Downtown Improvement District) Greening and Public Realm Award for Best Open Space Green Infrastructure.
