CASE STUDY
Cargill
Wayzata, Minnesota Corporate Headquarters Office Center Renewal The Corporate Headquarters Office Center was fully renovated including all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology infrastructure while the building remained occupied and open for business. PEGASUS GROUP led the coordination effort with the Owner and the Design-Build Team to define and detail project phasing that would work from a business operation and continuity perspective as well as a construction perspective. This included review of existing field conditions, verification of existing mechanical and electrical service, developing plans as needed to provide temporary utility services to areas of the building, working with Cargill’s Communications staff to develop regular communication to staff, vendors and visitors of pedestrian routes to and through the building, temporary business unit moves either within the Office Center or to off-site leased office space, parking restrictions, loading dock requirements for vendors and construction, etc.
PEGASUS GROUP worked closely with the Design-Build Team and the Owner’s furniture vendor to coordinate furniture layouts with power and data infrastructure. In addition to overseeing the construction activities, we also worked very closely with the Owner’s contractors that we retained for Cargill through a competitive procurement process that met their corporate purchasing guidelines in terms of IT (low voltage) infrastructure, data closet requirements, security system (card access and video surveillance) requirements, Audio Visual systems, etc. We coordinated those design requirements and work activities with the Design-Build Team. One of the critical areas of the Office Center project was the development of the “Traders Floor”, an area where the commodity buyers/sellers operate in conjunction with the other corporate trading locations around the world. Significant data and communication infrastructure were put in place as well as 100% redundant mechanical and electrical services to ensure operational “up time” as well as their direct communications to their other global locations. The project has allowed Cargill to consolidate its office operations within the Twin Cities letting them vacate multiple leased space locations. As Cargill CEO David MacLennan stated, “the improved synergies of their operation between forty different business units is immeasurable.” SERVICES PROVIDED BY PEGASUS GROUP
